Yin Yoga draws from both the Hindu principles and concepts of yoga traditions as well as Daoist principles and philosophies. Physically, Yin Yoga feels like deep stretching. It’s a passive practice that improves mobility and flexibility by loading the body’s deep connective tissues for a period of time with a focus on joint health. Energetically, Yin Yoga also connects with TCM, or Traditional Chinese Medicine, bringing awareness to the meridians; the pathways through which our Chi, our vital life force energy, should flow through freely for emotional, mental, and physical well-being. Simply stated, this beautiful balancing practice addresses both the seen and the unseen; our physical body and our subtle energetic body. It offers a gentle awareness of breath during long holds while either seated, prone, or supine, inviting us to drop our external veneers and to turn inward; cultivating an awareness of our authentic selves and our limitless potential. Yin Yoga is available to anyone who desires a greater sense of peace and to invite more balance to body, mind, and spirit. All Beings, All levels welcome.
